I don’t know about you guys, but after a night of slurping down a few alcoholic beverages, my skin looks seriously bleak the next morning. I’m talking dull, dehydrated-as-hell, and rosy in all the wrong places. Slugging back a bunch of water certainly helps the situation — as does simply giving my skin a good cleanse — but lately, Indie Lee’s I-Waken Resurfacing Mask has been the real MVP.

I’m not usually one to love resurfacing masks as they tend to be too harsh on my hyper-sensitive skin, but this one has quickly become the exception. Instead of glycolic acid, which has done a doozy on my skin in the past, it contains a Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA) derived from wintergreen that gently exfoliates dead skin cells without turning my complexion into a red, blotchy mess. It also contains java plum, which is rich in vitamin C, as well as both kaolin and bentonite clays to clear pores and sop up excess sebum. Aloe vera leaf extract and shea butter are in there too for some solid soothing action.

After just five to ten minutes of wearing this mask, my skin looks significantly better — brighter, calmer, clearer, and definitely less dull. In fact, the first time I used it, I was shocked at how glowy and even-toned my complexion looks, especially considering my history with resurfacing masks. I love how creamy and luxurious it feels to use, and how it doesn’t dry up completely and crack like some masks do, which usually makes my skin feel stripped and tight afterward.

It’s one of the only masks I have with me at home in New Jersey where I’m quarantining, and I can’t say I’m mad about it. It simultaneously brightens, smooths, and hydrates, which I’m all about. If you also struggle with dull, unhappy skin after drinking — or you know, just in general — definitely consider giving it a go.
