Hey folks, our world is currently dealing with a breakout of a deadly disease named Coronavirus. The epicenter of this disease is a city named Wuhan in China, and this virus first attacked China and now is spreading all across the world.

On 11-Mar-2020 WHO (World Health Organization) declared Coronavirus COVID-19 a pandemic. Since then many countries are completely locked down by their officials.

On the day I am writing this article, I am in the lockdown in India and staying at home. Meanwhile, Italy and the whole EU (European Union) have been hit by this disease very hard.

Thousands of people are dying on a daily basis and it is said that the situation is going to get worst.

The government is continuously trying to aware masses about the precautions they need to take in order to curb the spread of the virus.

Hence, trying to help the government, even more, I decided to write an article fully dedicated to the measure one should take to protect himself/herself from this disease.

1. Wear a Mask

This is the first thing a person should do in the current time. Coronavirus is contagious via air and you can get this virus simply by breathing around the affected person.

The reason is that if a person is already affected by the COVID-19 then if he/she sneezes, the virus will come out of his/her mouth and nasal organ. Thus, if you are in the vicinity of such a person, you will catch the disease.

Hence, wear a mask. You can either purchase a mask from the outside or make one for yourself at home.

Simply, take a handkerchief and fold it in a way so as to put and tied it around your nose and mouth area.

2. Wash Your Hands to Kill Coronavirus

WHO has said that during this pandemic situation one should wash their hands frequently and avoid touching any public surfaces.

By frequently means every 20 minutes either by using hand sanitizer or by soap or handwash. It is advised to wash your hands for around 20 seconds. Remember it is a 20-20 rule.

Also, if you have touched any public surface then quickly wash your hands using alcohol-based sanitizer or soap.

3. Maintain Social Distancing

The government has advised maintaining social distancing of 1 meter. During the lockdown period, the shops for necessary and daily items are open for a few hours.

Hence if you are going out to purchase groceries, then remember to maintain the distance of 1 meter with other people.

You can also maintain some distance at home also. Try not to sit very close to one another and avoid touching each other.

Previously, everyone likes to greet with handshakes, but now “Namaste” is in fashion. You should also adopt this culture of greeting with others.

4. Clean Your House

While during lockdown no vehicles are running on the road and therefore there is less dust in the air and in our houses.

But do not let this fool you because this time you have to be extra precautious.

Clean your house on a daily basis. Do the dusting, change your bedsheets every alternate day or every two days, and sanitize frequently used things by everyone such as doorknobs, switchboards, etc.

5. Boost Your Immunity

In Indian Culture there are multifarious things that can be consumed to boost one’s immunity. These things are used by Indian people on an everyday basis in their food.

These immunity booster things are very cheap and can be easily found in your kitchen.

It is very important to maintain or boost our immunity because if somehow we catch the disease, it is only our WBC (white blood cells) that can fight with it.

Here I would like to mention some of my favorite immunity booster ingredients:

  1. Turmeric/Haldi : You can consume turmeric or Haldi either by mixing it into the food while cooking or by intaking it by mixing a teaspoon of it in milk.
  2. Giloy/ Heart-leaved moonseed: It is an ayurvedic herb and is highly beneficial in increasing immunity. You can get this in any ayurvedic shop or order it online. Add water to the Giloy and boil it for around 15-20 minutes. Filter the water and drink it.
  3. Tulsi: Tulsi is a plant that has been found in every household in India. Engulf some leaves of Tulsi in the morning on an empty stomach or add some leaves while preparing tea.
  4. Ginger and Garlic: Both of these things have very high benefits when it comes to immunity. You can either take them on an empty stomach in the morning or you can make ginger tea.
